As I stand at the bar drinking my beer and my whisky, I sense that this place has seen better; once it was well patronised. its customers knew each other, and they knew the barmen who they were and what stood for. This was a place of friendliness, where plans were made by young and old, and the talk flowed as free as the whisky and beer; But no-one speaks now you pay your money and swallow your drink, and the beer is flat and the whisky has no taste. Gone is that allusive creativity which thrived and grew in company which I sense can no longer return to this place. GERALD ENGLAND.©1997 http//www.nhi.clara.net/gehome.htm |
