It's hard to believe that we are coming up on the Holiday Season already! Not to
mention the big millenimum! I have been taking a few moments each morning to
take a look at the sunrise. I am up at 6 am and it is beautiful,nnot to mention
the beautiful colors! This is certainly a lovely time of year to be outdoors and to
take some time to relax and enjoy life. I hope you will get the chance to enjoy
some of the Local Happenings that are taking place right in our area.

LOCAL HAPPENINGS AND EVENTS

November 3 - Bradley Beach Elementary School will be burying 3 time capsules in front of the school. It will take place at 1 pm and the school is at 515 Brinley Ave. Call 775-4413

November 3 - Charles D. Brown III, Monmouth County Mental Health Administrator, will be speaking at Monmouth Chapter of the National Depressive and Manic-Depressive Association. Mr. Brown will speak on the topic of Empowering the Mental Health Consumer. The meeting is open to individuals with depressive or bipolar (manic-depressive) illnesses, their families, and members of the community. The meeting will take place from 8 to 9 pm, at Community Connections, located at the corner of Second and North Bath Avenues in Long Branch. The meeting is free (a voluntary contribution of $1 is solicited). For more details call Jill at 571-2136, or Jay at 531-7624.

November 3 - NJ Lilith Fair band JABBER will be performing an acoustic set at The Internet Cafe, 1 W. Front St., Red Bank. Call 842-4503 for details. The set begins at 8 pm. For more info go to www.feedbag.com/jabber

November 3 - Learn more about self accupressure with guest speaker Shoshanna Katzman & Holistic Living Magazine. The discussion will be at the Eastern Branch Library on Rt. 35 in Shrewsbury. It will start at 7:00 pm

November 5 - Starting tonight and running weekends until November 20, Godspell will be presented at the Algonquin Arts Theater in Manasquan. Evening performances start at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 pm. Tickets are available by calling 223-7122

November 5 to 7 - Allaire Village will hold a Stocking Stuffer Sale from 10 am to 3 pm. Admission is Free.

November 5 to 7 - The first ever NJ state Quilt Show that will be held at the NJ Expo Center in Raritan

November 6 - Belmar Postcard Show will be held from 10 am to 4pm at Taylor Pavilion on Ocean Ave

November 7 - There will be a Tae Kwon Do Competition at Jackson High School. Times vary during the course of the day but the competition runs from noon on. Admissionis $5 per spectator. Come on out and take a look at this intense martial arts form

November 7 - Enjoy the comedy of Tim Conway & Harvey Korman at the Count Basie Theatre,99 Monmouth Street. The show opens at 7pm. Contact the Count Basie Theatre at 842-9000 for details

November 8 - There will be a Blood Drive sponsored by Central Jersey Blood Center from 6:00-8:30 pm at the Eastern Branch Library, Shrewsbury. Go out and donate if you can!

November 9 - There will be a Small Book Club Meeting at the Eastern Branch Library on Rt. 35 in Shrewsbury. The book for discussion is Frank McCourt's "Angela's Ashes." The discussion starts at 10 am

November 10 - Learn more about Spinal Health with Dr. Louis Meccia, Chiropractor. He will be speaking at the Wall Twp. Library on Allaire Road. The lecture will begin at 7:00 pm

November 10 - There will be a Small Book Club Meeting at the Eastern Branch Library on Rt. 35 in Shrewsbury. The book for discussion is Frank McCourt's "Angela's Ashes." The discussion starts at 7:30 pm

November 10 - Bradley Beach Elementary School will host Turn of the Century Day. There will be displays and presentations by the students. The schedule is from 9:30 to 11 am and from 1 to 2 pm. Call 775-4413 for details

November 10 - The Monmouth County Audubon Society will present a program on the Falkland Islands at 8:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church on White Street. The public is welcome; admission is free. The program, entitled "The Falkland Islands: A Penguin Bonanza and More," will be presented by Patti Murray, photo naturalist

November 11 - The Southern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce & the Greater Ocean Twp. Chamber are hosting a Joint Networking and Business Card Exchange from 7 to 9 pm. It will be held at the Red Lobster in Ocean Twp. The cost is $10 per person or $15 for two people. Reservations are requested and can be made by calling 728-1888 or 974-1151

November 13 - Meet the author: Victoria Cooper Author of Dilemma at the Wall Township Library. She will be there at 11:00 am.

November 13 - Allaire Village will sponsor a Fall Invitational Antiques Show & Sale at the South Wall Fire Co. Station #1, located on Atlantic Ave. & Rt 34. It will run from 9 am to 4 pm. Admission is $3 per adult and children under 12 are free

as the Long Branch Community Water Watch coordinator. We are looking for volunteers to
do environmental education in the schools, help organize and/or participate
in Beach, lake and stream clean ups, and do stream walking (looking for
pollution and polluters and doing water quality tests around local
waterways). We want interested people of all ages to give as much or as

The Heart of New Jersey Chorus is a women's chorus and chapter of
sweet adelines international. There are 60 singers presently and they
are looking to grow to 70 this year.They manage to have fun while
working hard every Wednesday evening.They meet during the school year
on Rt. 79 in Marlboro and at Monmouth Reform Temple during the summer.
