LOCAL HAPPENINGS AND EVENTS

May 5 - The Wall Township Library on Allaire Road will host a lecture on Massage Therapy
and its benefits. The speaker will be Toni C. Smith, Board Certified Massage Therapist.
The lecture begins at 7pm
May 6 - The Southern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly After Hours Networking Salomon Smith Barney. It will be from 5:30 to 7:30 pm. Salomon Smith Barney is located in the Brook 35 Plaza on Route 35 in Sea Girt. Call 974-3081 for details
May 7 - Join The Rogues on the Run for some great music at Downtown Cafe in Red Bank
May 7 - The Point Pleasant Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a Classic Car Cruise in the Downtown area. The cars will be on display from 5pm to 9pm. There will also be live entertainment and food. Call 899-2424 or 892-6298 for details
May 8 - There will be a school-wide garage sale at the Taylor Pavilion,located on 5th and Ocean Avenues, Belmar. Hours are 9am to 1pm, rain or shine. All proceeds will benefit the scholarship and student activities fund of the High Technology High School's Parent Faculty Association.
May 8 - Allaire Village will host its Annual Spring Crafters' Market. There promises to be over 100 local artisans. The fair is from 10 am to 4 pm and is $2 admission. Call 938-2253 for details
May 8 - The Chorus of the Atlantic presents their annual Spring Barbershop Show. The show begins at 8 pm and is being held at Ocean Twp. High School on West Park Ave. The show features K'Motion a comedy quartet. Call 335-9201 for tickets
May 8 - Ocean County Collge will present its Spring Concert featuring music associated with New York City. Selections will include: Jazz, Opera, Ballet, Marches and of course Showtunes. The concert begins at 8pm and tickets are $10. Call the box office at 255-0500 for tickets
May 12 - The Monmouth County Audubon Society will present a program entitled "Adventures With Shorebirds" at the May meeting. The meeting begins at 8pm. The meeting will be held at the Trinity Episcopal Church on White Street in Red Bank. The public is welcome; admission is free.
May 12 - Join The Bradley Beach Library Discussion Group as they discuss Billie Letts book "Where the Heart Is." The meeting begins at 7pm. The Library is located on 4th Ave in Bradley Beach. Call 776-2995 for details
May 14 - The Southern Monmouth Area Chamber of Commerce is holding its first Chamber Family Night at the New Jersey Shore Cats Game at the Asbury Park Arena. Profits from the sale of tickets will be donated to the Substance Abuse Resources Agency for Monmouth County. Tickets are $9 per person and can be purchased by calling the Chamber at 974-1151
May 14/15 - Shining Star Productions and The Shrewsbury Players present Neil Simons FOOLS at The Church House of The Presbyterian Church at Shrewsbury. Enjoy this comic fable, Friday and Saturday, at 8 pm All tickets are $10.00 and are available in advance or at the door. For ticket information call 747-3557 or 741-0722.
May 15 - The Shark River Beach Yacht Club is sponsoring a craft show & flea market.
It will be from 8:30 am to 3 pm at 360 South Riverside Drive in Shark River Hills.
Crafters are welcome and refreshments will be available. Call 774-6760 for reservations.
May 16 - The Eastern Branch Library on Route 35 in Shrewsbury willl host a Jazz Concert
featuring The James Dean Big Band with Sol Yaged, on the clarinet. Enjoy the music of
Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw. The concert will be from 2 to 4 pm and is FREE.
May 16 - Come celebrate Thompson Park Day. There will be pony rides, arts & crafts,
races, food, demos and more! Admission and parking is FREE! The celebration is from 11am
to 5pm. Call 842-4000 for more information.

The Heart of New Jersey Chorus is a women's chorus and chapter of
sweet adelines international. There are 60 singers presently and they
are looking to grow to 70 this year.They manage to have fun while
working hard every Wednesday evening.They meet during the school year
on Rt. 79 in Marlboro and at Monmouth Reform Temple during the summer.
