I hope all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! It seems the Season is upon us and it seems to come faster each
year! Well, I hope you'll take time to reflect on the true meaning of the Season and spend some time
with loved ones and friends enjoying some of the local happenings. I am sure
there are plenty more but I've selected the ones that seem to be fun, simple and
easy on the wallet... Enjoy this Season and all it brings you, hopefully a little
bit of cooler weather will be here soon as well to help make spirits bright...

LOCAL HAPPENINGS AND EVENTS

December 9 - Monmouth County Audubon Society will present "Long-legged Wading Birds" at the
Trinity Episcopal Church in Red Bank. The presentation starts at 8pm and is FREE! Call USA-BIRD for
details

December 10 - Great Jazz and Swing will be presented at the Headquarters Library in Manalapan. The
video will include a commentary by Bob Rickles. It begins at 2pm and is FREE.

December 12/13 - Ocean Grove will sponsor a Victorian Holiday Festival and House Tours. There will be
a Live Nativity and Music. Tickets are $20 a person. Call 774-1391 to reserve

December 12 - The Monmouth Civic Chorus celebrates its 50th season with performances of Handel's
Messiah at 8pm. The performance will be held at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank. Tickets are $20.
Call 933-9333

December 13 - Avon presents its 3rd Annual Christmas by the Sea Tour, Boutique and Dessert. It will run
from 1 to 4 pm and tickets are $12 a person which includes tours of inns, boutique browsing and desserts.
There will drawings/raffles at the shops and inns as well. The proceeds go to The Avon Business
Community Main Street Project. Call 774-2998 or 774-8505 or stop in a shop or inn that is participating

December 13 - A Jazz Concert will be given by Martha Loren and Trio at the Headquarters Library in
Manalapan. The concert will begin at 2pm and is FREE.

December 13 - Tatum Park Red Hill Activity Center will be the location for Mr. Punch's Christmas Carol,
a puppet adaptation of the classic. ShowTime is 2pm and is $6. Call 842-4000 for details or tickets.

December 14 - The Monmouth Civic Chorus celebrates its 50th season with performances of Handel's

December 15 - There will be poetry readings to benefit and collect food for the Food Bank of
Monmouth/Ocean Counties. The readings will take place at 6pm at the Eastern Branch Library on Rt. 35
in Shrewsbury. Please bring a small bag of non-perishable food items with you for a donation.

December 15 - Holiday Concert:Snow, Sleigh Bells and Saxophones will be performed at the
Headquarters Library in Manalapan at 7:30 pm. The performance is FREE

December 17 - The Wall Library will show two Christmas movies, Star of Bethlehem and A Child'
Christmas in Wales. The showtimes are 2:30 pm and 7:30 pm. They are FREE of charge. Call for details

December 17 - Lone Keep Internet will hold its monthly training session at the Southern Monmouth Area
Chamber office on Hwy. 35. The session starts at 7:30 pm. Call 988-4044 for details or directions

December 20 - Coastal Habitat for Humanity is again sponsoring a Bethlehem Walk in Bradley Beach.
The walk begins at 5 pm at the United Methodist Church on LaRenine Ave and will continue to
Ascension Church for the Nativity Pageant. The cost is $5 per person and includes pizza & soda at the
start of the walk and dessert & beverages after the Pageant. Children under 12 are FREE. Call Bridget
Hart at 974-7562 for tickets and details.

The Heart of New Jersey Chorus is a women's chorus and chapter of
sweet adelines international. There are 60 singers presently and they
are looking to grow to 70 this year.They manage to have fun while
working hard every Wednesday evening.They meet during the school year
on Rt. 79 in Marlboro and at Monmouth Reform Temple during the summer.
