A WORD OR TWO FROM ME
by Karen E. Jarosz
---------------------------------------------------------------------
What courage the early explorer Columbus must have had. First to go out on a limb and share his thought that the world is round not flat as folks thought it was back then. He also had to be courageous to keep going in spite of folks turning down his appeal for help to finance his expedition. Yet eventually it did pay off and he proved the world was round and discovered new lands! It amazes me how all this was done in the mid 1500's with none of the modern technology we have today! Ah, courage!! I cannot begin to imagine the hardships and setbacks Columbus and those like him must have faced in the those times in the name of progress and business. Today we have so many opportunities that it would seem that business and ideas should flourish each day. Yet businesses fail each year. Why? I think it has to do with risk-taking and having the courage to take those risks. Anything that is worth something should involve work and risk. Maybe that sounds old-fashioned but it has been my experience that those things that I have worked for, sweated over, stressed about and even shed a few tears over involved risk and were worthwhile experiences. So take a moment and ask yourself if you have the courage of Columbus to make something happen in your life that is taking risk and requires some work. If so then move forward and make it happen.
Until October 19th, have courage and move on,
Karen

Unless you've suffered the heartache personally, it's hard to imagine the array of emotions you experience as you hold a sick puppy in your arms at 3:00 am. There are many sick puppies being sold in Monmouth and Ocean counties from both breeders and puppy stores. Should you or someone you know purchase one of these bundles of love and it turns out to be sick, you need to go to a new website dedicated solely to the reporting of sick puppies in Monmouth and Ocean counties. MIKE'S PET CENTER in Neptune has a new pet!
Mike has adopted a 6 year old female Kinkajou named Kaytie.
What is a Kinkajou? It is a mammal that is native to South Americas tropical  forest and is in the same family as the raccoon, but Kaytie originally came from a private breeder in Kansas. Some interesting facts are they have a prehensile tail and they can turn their feet backwards to run either way. She likes a lot of tropical fruits and they also like honey and that is how they got a nickname "Honey Bear" but one of her favorite treats is marshmallows. Kinkajous are nocturnal and are very sweat but shy animals. They live to be about 25years old.
