A WORD OR TWO FROM ME
by Karen E. Jarosz
---------------------------------------------------------------------
As you may or may not know I have an affinity for history. I love being able to teach it to my fifth grade students and I love to learn as much as I can about it. I even play historical miniatures. I especially am fascinated with World War Two history. Why am telling you all this? I was fortunate enough to head over to Monmouth Executive Airport to check out the Wings of Freedom Tour! I not only was able to see a B24 come in but I was able to go in and explore the inside of the B24 and a B17! Talk about amazing!! It gave me a whole new perspective and appreciation for those who manned these planes and did an incredible job of it. I was also lucky enough to meet and chat (one-to-one) with a gentleman by the name of  Mr. George Warple, who landed on the beach at Normandy on D-Day. What a true gentleman he was and such pride he took in speaking about his experience. He may not have made headlines but he was certainly a part of history! For me this was a highlight to my summer. If you get a chance head over to the airport and check it out for yourself! This tour will be there through Thursday morning (see the listing below).
Until August 31st, enjoy these last days of summer and do something to make a memory as part of your personal history,
Karen

PS - I will be speaking at the next Tea seminar on Friday, August 28th at the Sixth Ave House in Asbury Park! It is quite lovely and Bob is a gracious host!

"Bada Bing, Bada Bang!"
September 18
It's a Sopranos parody with tons of audience participation. The "Smiths" are being placed in witness protection and the heads of the various "families" (audience members) are vying for Tony's position as head of the NJ Mob. They're put to the test in various contests: Pizza Tossing. Garroting Technique, etc. It's hilarious. Wait till you see Carmela!

From: mikespet@comcast.net
MIKE'S PET CENTER in Neptune has a new pet!
Mike has adopted a 6 year old female Kinkajou named Kaytie.
What is a Kinkajou? It is a mammal that is native to South Americas tropical  forest and is in the same family as the raccoon, but Kaytie originally came from a private breeder in Kansas. Some interesting facts are they have a prehensile tail and they can turn their feet backwards to run either way. She likes a lot of tropical fruits and they also like honey and that is how they got a nickname "Honey Bear" but one of her favorite treats is marshmallows. Kinkajous are nocturnal and are very sweat but shy animals. They live to be about 25years old.
