A WORD OR TWO FROM ME
by Karen E. Jarosz
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I have spent many summers here on the Jersey Shore now but I was treated to something truly special on Friday! I was enjoying the morning on the beach when the lifeguards began whistling the swimmers out the of the water. Naturally all those on the sand started to move to the water's edge to see what was going on. My first thought was a rescue. Then I noticed folks pointing into the waves and I thought shark! As if on cue two dolphins jumped up out of the waves! This was followed by about ten minutes of staring in awe as approximately 8 to 10 dolphins swam and played along the coast heading south. I have never seen anything like that before. It was amazing and made me realize how fortunate I was to be there at that moment to witness something like that in nature. I don't mind sharing the fact that I stood there along with dozens of others with my jaw hanging open ooohhing and aahhing as if it were the 4th of July and we were watching fireworks! It is a memory I will look back on from this summer with delight and wonder....
Until August 24th, take a look around you, marvel and wonder,
Karen

PS - I will be speaking at the next Tea seminar on Friday, August 28th at the Sixth Ave House in Asbury Park! It is quite lovely and Bob is a gracious host!

MIKE'S PET CENTER in Neptune has a new pet!
Mike has adopted a 6 year old female Kinkajou named Kaytie.
What is a Kinkajou? It is a mammal that is native to South Americas tropical  forest and is in the same family as the raccoon, but Kaytie originally came from a private breeder in Kansas. Some interesting facts are they have a prehensile tail and they can turn their feet backwards to run either way. She likes a lot of tropical fruits and they also like honey and that is how they got a nickname "Honey Bear" but one of her favorite treats is marshmallows. Kinkajous are nocturnal and are very sweat but shy animals. They live to be about 25years old.
