Only by seeking challenges can we hope to find the best in
ourselves.

A WORD OR TWO FROM ME
by Karen E. Jarosz
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope things are going well for all of you. So what challenges are you currently facing?
Trying to lose weight or trying to be more active? Is time a challenge for you? Not enough
of it? Maybe you are contemplating some major changes in your life? I often tell my
students that if something was easy then everyone would do it and anything worth doing
involves risk. I remember when I was working on my National Board Certification. In the
beginning stages I recall thinking how easy and simple the requirements appeared. Four
months in I realized it was more of a challenge than I originally thought. Yet with
support from friends and family and determination I completed the process and became
certified. (I am 1 of roughly 175 teachers in the state who currently hold this
certification). What started out as simple became a lesson in perseverance, hard work,
risk and challenge! In the end it was absolutely worth it because I grew as a teacher and
saw what I was made of. The same holds true for my journey to earning my Black Belt in Tae
Kwon Do. If I have learned anything as I grow older it is that anything that is to
simple isn't always worth it in the end. That while challenges may be difficult and push
us to what we think are our limits in the end it is the journey through those challenges
that mold us into a better, stronger person. Perhaps stronger than we thought we could
ever be...
Until July 27th, face those challenges head on. You'll be glad you did in the end...

MIKE'S PET CENTER in Neptune has a new pet!
Mike has adopted a 6 year old female Kinkajou named Kaytie.
What is a Kinkajou? It is a mammal that is native to South Americas tropical forest
and is in the same family as the raccoon, but Kaytie originally came from a private
breeder in Kansas. Some interesting facts are they have a prehensile tail and they can
turn their feet backwards to run either way. She likes a lot of tropical fruits and they
also like honey and that is how they got a nickname "Honey Bear" but one of her
favorite treats is marshmallows. Kinkajous are nocturnal and are very sweat but shy
animals. They live to be about 25years old.
