A WORD OR TWO FROM ME
by Karen E. Jarosz
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ah June. Summer is knocking on the door and schools are letting out. I'm just finishing up
my 22nd year teaching and my first year teaching 5th grade. What a wonderful learning
experience it was! I learned so very much from my 5th grade students as well as my grade
level teammates. Seems you can teach an old dog new tricks! While my students will be
moving up and onward to Middle School my hope is that I have in some way had a positive
impact or influence on them. I don't just mean in subject matter such as Math or Social
Studies but in being a good person. It is my belief that teachers have a tremendous
responsibility and an even larger opportunity to help students in navigating their way
through this thing we call life! My deepest desire and goal is to give my best to my
students and that in the end they will reap the rewards of our time together. I am sure if
each one of us thinks back to our school years we can recall a teacher we loved. We didn't
love them for the subject matter or the grades they gave us but rather because of the
person they were and that they cared, showed interest in us and above all they believed in
us. So here's to all those dedicated teachers out there who give their all, thank you!
Until June 22nd, thank a teacher and congratulations to all those who have graduated this
season
Karen

The Barbaric Bean Celebrates 1-Year Anniversary!
An historic event recently occurred in Ocean Grove, NJ: Barbaric Bean
Coffee Roasters celebrated its one-year anniversary. We stormed the gates of this boomin'
beach town on February 23, 2008. Since that time we have met thousands of wonderful
customers, trained over 25 staff members, weathered the summer wave of tourists and guests
to Ocean Grove.
From: mikespet@comcast.net
MIKE'S PET CENTER in Neptune has a new pet!
Mike has adopted a 6 year old female Kinkajou named Kaytie.
What is a Kinkajou? It is a mammal that is native to South Americas tropical forest
and is in the same family as the raccoon, but Kaytie originally came from a private
breeder in Kansas. Some interesting facts are they have a prehensile tail and they can
turn their feet backwards to run either way. She likes a lot of tropical fruits and they
also like honey and that is how they got a nickname "Honey Bear" but one of her
favorite treats is marshmallows. Kinkajous are nocturnal and are very sweat but shy
animals. They live to be about 25years old.
