And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.

A WORD OR TWO FROM ME
by Karen E. Jarosz
---------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the season of light and new life. So my question for you is how do you let your light shine? I am reminded of the children's song This Little Light of Mine, I'm gonna let it shine.... I think as we mature (yes, get older) I think we begin to realize or appreciate that we all have a light and that we should share it with others so that they may grow and shine too. Maybe your light is the light of laughter or the light of being a good listener. Maybe you shine when lending a helping hand or giving good advice to a friend in need. Maybe your light shines brightly when you volunteer your time or when you quietly lend support to a person in need. Maybe your light can be seen when you are kind towards or accepting of a person who needs it. Think about what makes you shine and be sure to let your light shine every chance you can to make this spring season of light and new life even brighter!
Until May 4th, let your light shine all the time,
Karen

This program called EITC (Earned Income Tax Credit) can lower the amount of taxes due, and potentially increase an income tax refund. Individuals with a low income can receive up to $4,800.00 from the federal government and up to $1000.00 from the state. In order to receive income tax credits, state and federal tax returns must be filed. To help individuals in this process, OHI will offer its Toms River facility at 301 Lakehurst Road, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., beginning January 20, 2009 and ending April 15. The Lakewood facility at 101 Second Street will be available on Saturdays only, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., beginning January 24, 2009, and ending April 15. For more information or to make an appointment, call United Way of Ocean County at 732-240-0311.

According to Wikipedia: During the American Revolution, Toms River was home to a strategically important salt works that supplied colonial militias, as well as a base for privateer vessels that plundered British and Tory ships off the coast. In March of 1782, a group of British and loyalist soldiers attacked a blockhouse along the river that housed the colonial militia and captured Captain Joshua Huddy, who was later hanged at Sandy Hook. Also destroyed were the salt works and most of the houses in the village. The incident greatly complicated the tense relationship between the British, loyalist, and colonial and was a factor in prolonging the peace negotiations that were then in progress in Paris until 1783.

The Barbaric Bean Celebrates 1-Year Anniversary!
An historic event recently occurred in Ocean Grove, NJ: Barbaric Bean Coffee Roasters celebrated its one-year anniversary. We stormed the gates of this boomin' beach town on February 23, 2008. Since that time we have met thousands of wonderful customers, trained over 25 staff members, weathered the summer wave of tourists and guests to Ocean Grove.

From: mikespet@comcast.net
MIKE'S PET CENTER in Neptune has a new pet!
Mike has adopted a 6 year old female Kinkajou named Kaytie.
What is a Kinkajou? It is a mammal that is native to South Americas tropical  forest and is in the same family as the raccoon, but Kaytie originally came from a private breeder in Kansas. Some interesting facts are they have a prehensile tail and they can turn their feet backwards to run either way. She likes a lot of tropical fruits and they also like honey and that is how they got a nickname "Honey Bear" but one of her favorite treats is marshmallows. Kinkajous are nocturnal and are very sweat but shy animals. They live to be about 25years old.
