A WORD OR TWO FROM ME
by Karen E. Jarosz
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Wow hard to believe that it is already the first week of August! Where did the summer go? Recently Rich and I were out on a day trip and there were tons of children around. We went to the Camden Aquarium which if you haven't been to it I highly recommend it! There were kids with parents, grandparents and many summer camps. The kids were so amazed by the simple pleasures of watching the sea life that if made me stop and think about my youth during those hazy days of summertime. I grew up in Brooklyn as some of you may know. We would get up early (even though during the school year I was happy to sleep in to the last possible minute). We kids spent our days outside riding bikes, playing stickball or kickball, swimming in my cousins' pool, and going to the park to swing on the swings. If it were really hot then we played board games such as Monopoly, Battleship or Life on the stoop or in my friends backyard under the tree. When evening came, we sat on the front stoop listening to the radio, hanging out and just talking. It seemed that summer was endless and so were the possibilities for having fun!

As adults we seem to forget about the summers of our youth and plan activity after activity. Why not spend some time this summer doing those things that made you happy as a kid during the summer? Maybe build a sand castle, ride your bike, have a picnic or pull out a favorite board game. Make it a point to spend some time this summer enjoying it as kid....
Until August 11th, bring on the summertime fun again,
Karen

PS Rich, my husband, won the Pizza Eating Contest at Neptune City Day. So much for his diet!

Ahh, your morning coffee. Something to look forward to, the start of a new day. While it's important that the coffee be good, where you're having it is also important. On Saturday April 12th, it was my pleasure to have my morning cup at the grand opening of the Barbaric Bean on Main St. in Ocean Grove. The coffee was great, as was the food. But what I truly liked was the atmosphere. An excellent place to linger with friends and family or just read your favorite book. So make your way over to the Barbaric Bean. Even if the rest of your day isn't splendid, you'll know it started off just fine.
