A WORD OR TWO FROM ME
by Karen E. Jarosz
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Hard to believe that we are but a week away from the "unofficial" start of the
summer of 2008! Ah, summer at the Jersey Shore! Walks on the boardwalk, concerts in parks,
fairs, the beach, bike rides in the morning and of course all the yummy summertime foods!
Yet, while we savor these wonderful summertime pleasures let us not forget those who gave
their lives for our freedom to enjoy these very pleasures. Memorial Day is far more than a
day which marks the beginning of the summer season or the luxury of a three day weekend.
It is an opportunity to reflect on and give thanks for those who came before us that made
the ultimate sacrifice - their lives - so that freedom could be preserved. Far to often in
the busyness of our daily living we forget or take for granted those simple freedoms that
we do enjoy. So I ask you to take a moment on Monday before you head out to the beach,
boardwalk or backyard barbecue and say a prayer of thanks for those who paid the price and
gave their life so we could truly enjoy our lives today
Until June 2nd, God Bless America and those who helped to keep it free!
Karen
PS - With the start of the summer we at the JSCIB start our summer schedule. That means
publishing every Monday in June, July and August! So if
you have an event to include we need it by Friday at 12 noon to be included in the
following Monday's issue. Thanks!

From: THE MAN ABOUT TOWN (DAVID ZIMEL)
Ahh, your morning coffee. Something to look forward to, the start of a new day. While it's
important that the coffee be good, where you're having it is also important. On Saturday
April 12th, it was my pleasure to have my morning cup at the grand opening of the Barbaric
Bean on Main St. in Ocean Grove. The coffee was great, as was the food. But what I truly
liked was the atmosphere. An excellent place to linger with friends and family or just
read your favorite book. So make your way over to the Barbaric Bean. Even if the rest of
your day isn't splendid, you'll know it started off just fine.
