Welcome to our summer editions! I know summer doesn't officially start until the 21st but
with so much going on at the Shore we decided to get a jump start! So for you the reader
that means getting the Bulletin every Monday in June, July and August! That way you can
plan a fun outing every week to get out and enjoy the Shore! Don't forget to take along
someone you love to make it twice as fun and let me know if you particularly enjoyed any
event!

June 8 - Organizers of the 2004 New Jersey Ride Against AIDS, a three-day, 250-mile
bicycling event benefiting N.J.-based AIDS charities, will hold an informational meeting
for anyone interested in becoming a rider, volunteer or sponsor of the event which will be
held October 1-3. The meeting will be hosted by The Center in Asbury Park, one of the
Rides beneficiaries, and will take place at 6 pm at 1206 Main St., between Fourth
and Fifth avenues in the city. For more information on volunteering to assist the Ride in

June 9 to 12 - AAUM Used Book Sale will be held at the following dates and times: 6/9 -
5pm-9pm, 6/10- & -6/11 - 9am-8pm and 6/12 - 9am-3pm at the Reformed Church of Freehold

Huggins feels that nothing very interesting ever happens to him, but from the moment a
stray dog in the drugstore begs for a taste of his ice-cream cone and downs it in one

June 9 - There will be a book discussion/signing with award-winning journalist and
photographer Arline Zatz who will be discussing her new book, Horsing Around in New
Jersey. Whether you're a novice who yearns to go horseback riding but doesn't know how or
where to begin, or an experienced equestrian seeking new trails and campsites, you won't
want to miss this event. Discover dozens of places to watch or participate in sports on
horses and learn how to get a job in the equestrian field. It will be held at the Barnes

June 10 - New Jersey Marketing Expo 2004: Listen, Learn, Connect will be sponsored by

June 10 - Bring the kids to Barnes & Noble on Rt 9 in Freehold for a
storytime/signing to meet Patricia MacLachlan and Dan Yaccarino! Patricia MacLachlan is
the author of the Newbury Award-winning story, Sarah Plain and Tall, and Dan Yaccarino is
an author and illustrator of numerous children's books and creator of Nickelodeon's
animated television series, Oswald. Patricia and Dan will be introducing their new picture
book, Bittle. It's an endearing story about Nigel the cat and Julia the dog, who have no
use for the new baby in the house...until they realize how much they love her. The fun

June 12 - Georgian Court University will host an artists reception for Kim Sakevich, a
recent graduate of the university's bachelor of fine arts program, on Saturday, , from
5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the M. Christina Geis Art Gallery in the Arts and Science
Center. Ms. Sakevich's exhibit, titled "Through the Looking Glass" is currently
on display at the gallery. The public is invited to attend at no charge.

June 14 - American Legion Post 346 of Neptune NJ will hold its Flag Retirement Ceremony
at 6pm on Flag Day at the Post Home at 21 Gulley Road in Neptune. Open to the public, Post
Officers will honorably retire old American Flags at this moving event. One doesn't just
throw out an old American Flag, it is to be retired properly after serving us so well.
